About Godminster
Godminster Farm is set on the outskirts of the town of Bruton, Somerset, whose historic pedigree is recorded in the Doomsday Book of 1086 and whose 3,048 inhabitants enjoy the benefits of rural life. The Farm was registered as organic in 1999 and now boasts orchards with cider apples, peaches, nectarines and grapes, whilst keenly observing Soil Association and Government regulations relating to animal husbandry and our MD and founder Richard Hollingbery’s environmentally varied approach to business.
The cows at Godminster Farm enjoy a simple and wholesome life. Richard sees them as the foundations for a truly holistic approach to his business, with the Farm’s milk turned into Godminster Vintage Cheddar. This sumptuous cheese is made from a 70 year old recipe and is wrapped in burgundy wax to emphasise its pedigree and truly special status as well as enhance shelf life. The cheese is full bodied with a long nutty, savoury bite. To continue Godminster’s expansion, they also produce handmade creamy artisan brie using fresh milk from the farm.
Godminster Farm is a testament to Richard’s passion to be environmentally neutral. With a mantra of “nature repays those who treat her kindly”, his humane approach to husbandry and pioneering spirit is a breath of fresh air when ordinarily, cost cutting competition appear to be the order of the day.
